How long should I wait for a reply (from freelancer)

I was discussing the creation of a custom Vbulletin modification with a programmer. He sent me a fairly detailed outline of what I wanted and was going to proceed to give me a quote. However, he hasn't logged on to vbulletin.org since the 11th and he last emailed me June 4th. I replied the same day and haven't heard back from him since.

Now, how long should I wait before I look for a new coder? I mean, I think he seemed pretty experienced. I also realize most good coders are probably coding, not looking for clients all the time.

Some advice?

Thanks,

Give it until the 19th, if you still recieve no word, look elsewhere.

2 weeks is plenty of time / too long to wait, in my opinion.

I agree, 2 weeks is more than enough time. Good luck and I hope you find someone that can help you!

I'm a one-week person myself. If a person doesn't reply in a week, then I'll find someone new for the job. More often than not, there's someone that will do the job just as good, if not better and will take the time to reply to my e-mails or method of contact.

The only exception to this rule is if there is a family emergency, death or related incident. I understand those completely and would say nothing more, given, they didn't use the excuse more than 1-2 times. After that, I would see it as a put-off and lie, not a real and true excuse.
