I have a UFC/MMA news site that I think is getting to the point where it may have the traffic to support a forum. But my question is, outside of a funky template or design what are some things that I could do to make this forum different. There are already countless UFC/MMA forums out there that are successful. What angle can I take that would make someone want to join yet another forum on this topic.

Thanks in advance for any ideas that you may be able to give.

I think you might be referring to Ultimate Fighter Championship when you refer to UFC...but I dunno for sure.

Yes, UFC/MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) is what he's referring to for anyone who doesn't know. It's a new (well not really, but new to most people) style of fighting.

There are lots of people getting into this sport nowadays (which is a good thing) and if you've already got a established news site that helps as well.

As for unique things to do, its hard to tell. I wanted to start up a forum, but saw a few that were already pretty established and decided not to do it (not saying you shouldn't).
also ryan, he's thinking about starting a forum on his news site, he doesn't have one yet to link.

Some ideas
-Fantasy MMA (some sort of points system, i haven't thought it out but it would have to be custom)
-Point Betting (some may have this, the one I'm on did, but stopped using it)
-Have a "Learning" Section, that really describes each area of fighting if you're in tune enough with it. This may be time consuming, but could be a nice linkbait idea as well.

if I think of any other ideas I'll throw them out there.

I'm trying to push MMA on my forum as well as it seems like something many people are picking up. So some things I did was add a MMA E-Fed. People created their own superstars and such and there was a show. Click my link in my signature if you are really looking to use this idea. Also, put banners on your site promoting outsiders may love and finally the media. People love media and recommend your support it on your site.
