Title: Forum Addict Join Date: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,948 Location: Michigan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Multiple Administrators? Have you ever considered having a second (or even a third) Administrator for your forums? If so, do they have the same rights as you in regards to the abilities to modify anything on the forum as well as ownership? I've seen sites that have multiple Administrators (including AF of course ) but in most cases each Administrator has different responsibilities. And even then, only one truly owns the site and has full and final say over many decisions. So, if you have thought of doing this or if you have already, what is your experiencing with multiple Administrators?

At the same time, you'd want to limit the number of people that have that much power. The more there are, the higher the risk of a mistake being made. | ||||

My forum has 3 Admins. However, We each have different responsibilities and at the same time we ahve the same authority. Mind you.....things like this can also cause problems which I will not go into detail. It truely is a "Take a chance" and hope for the best. Besides me, I have 2 other Admins. One is a Sister the other is someone who joined my forum and we are lucky to have found her. She is THE Best of the BestEST. Great Topic! Thanks for bringing it up. Nonetheless, I have learned alot about ownership / Admin & Not giving up from Ryan! Thanks Bunches Ryan <hugz>

It really gives me insight on this topic while finding out what others are already doing at their respective forums. To throw another question in this situation; if you do decide to add a second Administrator, how do you go about hiring that person? Do you post a job offer somewhere or do you personally pick the person? I would think you would want to pick the person since, as many people have said here, the admin functions are not something you just want to hand out. I would think that posting a position for an admin would be risky at best. You never know who will apply.

Here at AdminFusion is the first time I have really gone out on a limb, and that was with awibble. I posted a job offer in a bunch of webmaster forums...took applications. I picked awibble due to his amazing application and resume, but I didn't give him everything right from the start. He went through a lengthy trial period (probably a month or two) in which he was a moderator...After I felt sure of him, he was promoted to admin status. LarryB, our other admin, I have known for some 4-5 years now... You really need to know your people before making them an admin. Mods are a little bit different...and if you dont know the admins really well, get to know them before you give them admin privileges - do this by putting them through a trial period of sorts, as I did with awibble. At least....that's just how I would recommend you do things, haha
