| Thanks for the feedback Ryan. What are your thoughts on this. We keep promoting this, both the directory and the corresponding eCuffo community forum that will be launched soon. We work hard and thousands and thousands of sites register their sites on the free directory (like some others already out there as you have mentioned), and the directory continues to grow. At the same time we push the corresponding forums and admin community, which also hopefully takes off as part of eCuffo, and on its own accord. Both of these 2 parts could become very highly ranked sites (PR or otherwise) and be valuable as a way to connect people, promote sites, and generate traffic. We still plan to add articles (ongoing) and potentially do this in a "fark-like" way, with ranking of articles, links, etc - creating more traffic to the site, and THROUGH the site to other sites. I hope that makes sense, lol ps - Ryan I love your current signature. | |

A lot of directories require you to be the owner of the site, require a backlink or have a paid fee associated. I'm not saying this is the only one that doesn't require any of those, but it is the only site that I have found that looks as user friendly (IMO) and easy to navigate. I think that's the difference. No emails to verify the site or anything. Also, thanks for submitting sites but because this is the case study, I don't think it's necessary to say that in here. I saw the other topic was closed but that's cool... you don't have to let us know if you submit or not. Ryan We chatted on AIM. Mainly your thoughts were regarding eCrambler and I agree. This isn't going to be a huge thing (we're not trying to make it huge) but we wanted to power eCuffo with our own search engine that we had control over what was shown so we built one. Let's not confuse eCuffo with eCrambler.

Anything else I'm missing? Because again, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of these already out there today. Yes, yours looks very nice...I'm impressed with the design and layout - very easy to look at, very intuitive, etc...but so far I haven't found anything "super-sweet" that you offer that I can't already find somewhere else. It's completely fine if that was your intention - to just be a quality, free directory...I'm not against people creating directories, but, you just make it sound as if this is different in some way, and I'm not seeing it.

I think it being my project, I have biased so I see it from a different point of view than others. The ultimate goal is to get to a nice PR where users can submit reviews of their site and post a link in the directory for free with no stipulations. Most of the larger PR 6+ directories require a backlink of some sort or paid submission or require approval. Our goal is to be as indexed as everyone else and provide the service to the users at 0 cost. That is where I think it's unique. Over time, we will revisit features and look for things to add for users to gain something from the site. If you can think of something that would be unique to the site that you would want to see, we would definitely consider adding it.
