There are only two social networking softwares that I am aware of dolphin by boonex & phpfox. Btw I hear phpfox is very server intensive.

Thanks, I've had a look at boonex and that seems too much for what I actually need. PHPfox looks very good, however way out of my price range, budget is roughly $75 for the script, I have the domain and hosting ready .
