| Forum Junkie ![]() | Forum or Forums, whats best? Whats best for a domain? [blah]forum, or [blah]forums? I'm looking into creating a new game orientated forum, (or perhaps buying one) mainly inspired off the success of AzH's L4D forum (good work with that, btw ) and of course, i'll never get anything of mine that successful, but nethertheless, I want to know what domain I should use, something with forum, or forums in it?i.e GameForum, or GameForums.com

| The Webmaster ![]() | Heh funny you bring this up because I myself have been looking for a good new IP, or an established series with not much in the way of forums, to make a new forum off of, and want a similar name, gameforum(s).com. I think a lot of times it depends on the name you want and just what sounds best to you. In a lot of cases I might prefer the singular forum though. I don't think one has an advantage over the other in serps or anything like that, it's just preference and what you think sounds better. edit: A lot of times unless you find a game that has just been announced, one or the other will be taken and you just have to settle with whatever is left, unfortunately.

| Forum Junkie ![]() | Well, actually the domain I want is of a well known game, one of the versions is taken, the other is not, I'm wondering if there is a good reason for that. (the other is taken by one of those stupid parked things that don't actually use the domain, just advertise, and re-sell for extortionate prices..)

| Forum Junkie ![]() | Well, I snagged the domain i was looking at, and sorry if my original post misleaded anyone, i meant a "new forum" not a forum for a "new" game ![]() I've snagged up TF2Forum, for Team Fortress 2, as after looking about, I couldn't really find anything truly dedicated to TF2, I'm still looking out for anything better though, as i'm not truyl convinced that this type of game would work well for a forum. So I'm still browsing through looking for (new or newish) games to try going at.

![]() | I remember the years when I started to participate in forums. I had many times problem to type the URL correctly when they was the "s" in the end. So I recommend to use "forum". |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Eeee.. Thanks. ![]() I usually go with forumS but most will tell you forum is a better suffix. Good luck with TF2Forum. A guy I know owns teamfortress2.net and he's been trying to get me into running a forum on it with him. So far I said no. The only TF2 forum I found (which was not a sub of HL2.net or CS-S is The Team Fortress 2 Fort | Unofficial Team Fortress Community Site

| Veteran | personally I don't care if it's an s or not... I'd rather not have "forum" attached to the domain because it's just that much more you have to type into the address bar which increases your chance of typo traffic. If you are gonna buy a (blah)forum or (blah)forums domain name. Try to get both and just forward one to the other and avoid this problem all together.. It's worth it in the long run. Also you get a whole other domain to SEO and increase you traffic..

| Apprentice ![]() | Personally, I think "forum" (no s) looks a lot better unless you have a network or more than one forum to showcase. But I really dont think it matters much SEO or really any way

| Apprentice | It is really personal preference I think. I prefer 'forum', it just seems to sound better and the singular just suggests the one forum. I am not too sure with this one, will have to wait for some more responses. |
