Off Topic?

How many of you have an off-topic section?

Is having such a section very important for you?

An off topic section is something I usually start my forum with. I definitely like to keep the actual discussion areas the most active but it is still a good thing to have so members can relax and shoot the shit about whatever.

Are you personally active in them? Or do you concentrate your activity to other sections?

I try to be active in all areas of my forum so that each section at least shows last activity to be today if it is a young or smaller forum, but I would definitely put more focus on the other sections.

I grudgingly add off topic sections. I prefer to keep a forum focused but usually give in to the clamour of people asking for a 'shoot the shit' forum.

I have one, its vital. It allows members to just sit back and relax and just talk about anything. Good for forums starting out.

Yes we have an off topic section which has fair bit of activity everyday. Agree with wmwidget that the section allows members to talk about every other thing in their lives, just like what we would do when we communicate in real life situation.

Yeah, Off Topic forums are really important... If you have some message boards though were you play certain "characters" it might not be best to put one on there so you don't ruin the "mood" of the site.
