What would make you more interested in joining Notebook In Hand - Powered by vBulletin ? (Not you personally, I mean you as in... potential members) I'm having trouble lately with it, and I really want to improve it. I thought I should ask some people who might have an external opinion.

Here are the things I want to make sure is clear from the index page.

1. That we're willing to help anyone with anything creative, wherever we can, no matter what type of creativity. Everyone is welcome.

2. That you don't have to be an expert, all levels of ability is welcome.

3. That we'd love to see your work, whatever it is.

4. That all ages and both genders are welcome.

5. That it's not just a forum for writers and/or artists. We have no preference over you whether you write poems, novels, do art, sculpt, bake cakes, sew SCA garb, or program websites.


I also am thinking of changing how the categories of creativity are divided up, and consolidating it a bit, but I don't want it to be writers vs artists vs other, that's not what we're about. Any thoughts?

I had good intentions with all my divisions, but I'm not sure if it's working anymore.

I suggest a new theme.. The purple seems a little.. I dunno... not "artsy" enough.. I'd also try to seperate your forums out a little better.. Maybe by broad topics... Writing, Art, Music, Crafts, Culinary... something like that.. maybe hide some of the forums for non members so they don't get overwhelmed when first visiting your website... I want to see exactly what main topics you talk about withing 30 seconds of visiting a forum.. I didn't get that completely when I visited.

I would agree with the new skin. I really dont like that skin choice. As for the other things, I think your descriptions and such kind of hurt your site. I can barely understand what everything is about, and what does that have to do with a note book in my hand? I think you should go for a better domain name that would match your content. But that's just my opinion. I would think of reorganizing the site some, and maybe generalizing your topics and making everything more user searchable and such.
