Would You Make This Guy a Moderator?

During the posting contest, there is a bunch of spam and off topic stuff posted. I have 3 moderators already, but they all are in school at the same time. There is one guy who is on constantly that really wants to be a moderator. I get his stupid application every other day or so.

The problem is, most of the stuff that needs moderated are his posts. He's also the guy that skips school, if you read the forum contest thread. I don't know how available he would be normally. Also, he some questionable posts. DomainJunking.com is the support forum for DomainerZone.com. He's making posts about things he has no idea about because he never bought a DZ PPC site. He wants to be a moderator of the Questions/Suggestions/Comments and Domainer Zone Support forums because those are his "favorite". He has over 510 posts and 21 were made in those sections. There isn't currently a moderator because I don't think those would need much moderation. They are for questions and stuff about the site and then support for the other site. I check both of those, anyway.

Basically, I need a moderator who is on a lot, and he wants to be a moderator and is on a lot. Should I make him a moderator dispite his crap posts and false information? He definitely wants the prizes in the contest, which is also what I offer any moderator. I don't know how loyal he would be once he gets a few free domains.

No chance in hell would be my answer. If he's spamming and giving bad advice now then think what he's going to be like if he has any power over other users. Do you REALLY want to give him the power to delete/edit others members posts?

No.

If you don't have any good applications, don't hire. It's worth it to wait for a good app, than to go with the best one you received.

I definitely wouldn't hire him... I never ask for applications to begin with. I pick out members who are active, helpful, and have good grammar. I send PMs to the people I think should be mods and ask if they want the job, rather than sifting through dozens of bad applications...

I posted on SitePoint for a moderatore. Partly just to advertise my forum. Now I get a PM from him with his lame application, even though I already hired 3. He thinks I still need another one.

I am thinking about PMing him a warning that if he doesn't straighten up, he will no longer be considered for a moderating job. If he gets worse, he will be disqualified from the contest and possibliy banned from the site completely. I doubt I do this, but each time I bring in a moderator, spam slows down, at least for a little while.

No.

He'd be lucky if he's even allowed to apply again...

I agree with everybody else, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that he would ever be a mod at one of my forums, and I don't even know the guy...If anything, you should be debating whether or not to ban him from your forums - not whether or not to make him a moderator...the complete opposite end of the spectrum.

I agree with Winston.

Applications don't need to be sent every few days. He has none of the qualities that a mod needs, so it appears.

He is too impatient, and from your description, a tool.

That made me LOL!

But yeah, he needs to quit it... Should suspend him for a few so he learns his lesson.
