OK, so I know I want to start a new forum after realizing my current forum is not going anywhere. So I need help figuring out which topic that I like has the best chance of success. Here are some things that I like that I could see myself doing a forum about:
I want to say I had a sweet idea for a forum the other night, but I fell asleep while I was thinking about it and can't remember it So out of those topics that I listed, which do you all think would have the best chance of success based on how many other forums of the same kind there are and how popular they are? ![]() The ones I'm probably not going to do are Star Wars and Anime, I like those things but I don't think I could make a successful forum from them.

You also need to have a good plan/strategy to go along with it. Anybody can compete any any market as long as they have an interesting and unique plan. Instead of picking based on which has the least competition, I would make a decision based on which you are most interested in and which you can offer something unique for. If you pick the easiest (least competitive) market to compete in, but do not offer anything unique, you will not see much success.

But I appreciate your input I know it's not based on topic alone, but wouldn't you agree that some topics don't have much of a chance of success because they have already been done to death?

Some forums will be harder to build than others because of competition/saturation, yes, but there is not any single topic where you are guaranteed to fail. If you come into the forums with a wonderful plan and with something unique to offer...as long as you commit to it and don't give up, you won't fail.

If the competition is huge and you can't come up with anything to distinguish you from them, then perhaps it is too fierce...but I don't think there's any topic at there where the right person cannot come into and make it a success - from scratch. You can do anything you put your mind to ...However dont just jump into a super-saturated market just for the heck of it. I'm not saying that anybody can create a successful forum in any topic...If you havent thought it out thoroughly and are not 100% committed to it, dont be surprised when things dont work out.

They offered something unique, postfusion, amoung other things a very helpful staff and a nice community. Adminfusion shows that you can go into an oversaturated market and suceed. On a sidenote, all the things you thought you could make forums about are basically all I can think of as well, except anime that is. | ||||

The problem of course would be finding people who dont just like movies, but love movies...me, for example...I like movies a lot, but I don't see myself registering at a forum and talking about them day in and day out...Ubuntu Linux sounds interesting because, well, it sounds so specific...there can't be much competition, right? You don't have to consider those two, they are just the one's that stood out to me. Computers, gaming, anime, and forums seem very saturated to me (especially gaming)...but like I've said, just go with any topic you would like, the topic that you feel most comfortable with...what you need is 1) A good plan 2) Knowledge of the competition (know your enemy!) 3) Dedication 4) Time and patience
