Title: Apprentice Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 265 Location: Massachusetts, USA ![]() ![]() | I used to spend the majority of my time on promotion and at the same time taking steam away from other similar websites. Its really noticible, since I stepped down the website has become horrible inactive. I used to help keep order as well, I had a very lax approach to rules so I was well liked.

Title: Veteran Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 585 Location: HOTLANTA ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I spent a lot of time reading and responding to posts for the first 3-4 months. When we were pretty well on a good run I started to get burnt out and decided I wanted to back out of being so involved. I cut my mods (they weren't doing anything) and gave some powers to my admins and decided to work on bettering the site, working on promoting and gaining new members, developing programs and letting my admins deal with board issues (when I can get myself to stop being a control freak and not do it).

| Title: Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 102 ![]() | I spend most of my time promoting, reading admin boards, and I've just recently started back posting on larger boards with my sig. (I find that so time-consuming) but I gotta do it at this point. My board gets about 10 posts a day, so it doesn't take me long to read and respond ![]() I start topics, but not too many because honestly, I am tired of seeing my own name by so many threads | ||||

Title: Dave's not here... Join Date: Dec 2005 Posts: 418 ![]() | I really don't do that much lol. I spend most of my time reading and writing posts, there isn't much else for me to do . My board is getting about 50 posts per day, so it's a bit much to read through. Add that to managing the website side along with another website and a blog, all while trying to get some free lance graphic design work done so I can make some money... I'm busy pretty much all day heh.Thankfully I don't have to spend so much time on promotion any more. Tutorials are the main method of promoting my forum, I have a group of paid tutorial writers and mods to handle that for me now heh. Though if you look back a year it was a completely different story. I was spending all of my time writing Photoshop tutorials... to this day, I am responsible for writing about half of the total (57) tutorials. So yeah, when I first started I was spending all of my time promoting. Now I spend it all reading posts. [Look Ryan, another one of those long posts that could have been summed up so easily ]

| Title: Groupie Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 43 Location: UK ![]() | Depends on the size of the forum: If its a large forum I like to spend a lot of time looking around, making sure the mods are doing their jobs properly. About twice a week I will check over the database, make backups, and optimise the mySQL database. If it's a smaller forum, I will make more posts and promote the forum, and not bother as much with backups because there is less traffic. I like to do as much as I can and keep everything running smoothly. | ||||

Title: Apprentice Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 304 Location: New Jersey ![]() ![]() | I have my lackadaisical periods, like now. I haven't done much with any of my sites in about a month or more (except for a few exceptions). Then I have my aggressive periods where I make a site a day and update every site I own every day. Normally I spend about 5-20 minutes per day on every site I own (of course with some exceptions). Then I add signatures all over the place for my newest sites and I add my links to my sites to other sites I own. Lately I haven't been on a promotion mission and have let things go naturally, but by advertising on my own sites usually I'm guaranteed a PR3 for all my other sites. I've been very laid back lately due to my regular job and training for my future job, that and I usually stay unfocused. I'm happy as long as I break even, I don't really do this for a profit, but like everyone else I hope to make a profit one day. Also regardless of what I posted above, I have a very flexible work schedule and I can honestly say I spend about 16 hours a day online so me being lazy might be considered someone working hard. I love doing this so I don't see this as work at all.
