Do you read ALL posts made?

This is really a question to the medium to semi-large forum owners...do you read all posts made in your forums? I try my hardest to do this...I did it for the first 3 months (didn't miss a single post), but as time went on and the forums became more active, I found that I couldn't always read every post. I'd still say that as of now, I've read 95% of the posts at AF - but not all.

Typically when I am gone and come back, having missed a bunch of posts, I will still try to go back and read them - sometimes (if it has been longer than 24 hours) I will even go through each individual section, reading any posts I missed...I think it's good to read as many as you possibly can as there might be some posts snuck in there which address either your forums or yourself. And of course, there are always those that are breaking the guidelines which you need to see.

So...do you read all of yours? How important is it to do so? Is it more important for you to sit down and catch up on missed posts for 2 hours or should you develop the forums and just not read those posts?

I love reading new posts, but as we're approaching 200 members it is getting harder. Luckily I have a brilliant moderator team who can spot posts [ it definatley helps to have moderators in several time zones ], but I can't read every new post.

However, I do scan through each forum with new posts a day to try and spot anything against the rules [I'm getting a lot of spam and go latley].

But most forum software has a "New Posts Today" function, which I find very helpful.

Ashley, yeah, the New Posts Today option is great. The hard part is when you are gone for longer than a day...or when you leave and that "Today's Posts" list is 4 pages long.

We get around 300-500 posts a day. I read all of them and try and respond to most. I was not active in my forum for two years and that stunted the growth. I won' do that again. Once we get too large I'll read the ones I am interested. Reading 2k posts a day can get insane. I know some boards get 25k a day, jeeze!

YES!! I read all the new posts and try my hardest to answer them all as I read them. I feel it is important as the board owner/admin to interact with the members and board. I am even a mod still for 2 forums (we are still growing) But I enjoy getting to know all the members and what better wat then to read their posts.

I am still able to read all new posts and haven't had a problem. However, for the times when I have been gone for a few days, I found it helpful to add a few links at the top of my forum. I have the "New Posts" link but I also added three images that show me the new posts from 1 day, 2 days and 3 days ago. This helps when I just can't get online for one or two days.

That's a really cool feature - I never even knew that search term existed "&days"

*wonders if and how he could implement that at AF*
