how do identify why people should join your forum?

Hi everybody

Iam new here and actually i havent started my forum yet. Currently Iam in the process of trying to identify the goals of my site.

Can someone tell me how to sell people on the benefits of joining my site especially if it is new?

Are there any specific questions that i should answer in my salescopy...

Should i create a salescopy?

How did you get people to join your forum what was your unique selling position?

I want to start a forum for people that want to make money by working from home...

I know the idea is not new but its one that i really like and I think i can its one that i would have fun developing.

Why would people join a work at home forum?

Thanks

Sherese

Do you work at home, Sherese? If so, what would you look for in a forum on working at home? I actually don't know a whole lot about working at home, so I don't have any terrific ideas, but if I were you I'd visit other work at home forums and see what they are doing. Look at the suggestions section for those forums and see what the members want...Take the best of each community and combine these things into your forums.

I strongly recommend coming up with a plan or an idea before opening though - if you don't have something unique, something that will make people register at your forums over any other, you're going to struggle a whole lot.

Hi Sherese, I'd also like to welcome you to AdminFusion as well.

Ryan pretty much summed it up with his post but I thought I could at least make one suggestion. If you are going to be using vBulletin as your forum software, I highly recommend installing the Welcome Headers modification found at vbulletin.org.

This mod allows you to customize the welcome message that your visitors see and you can make it stand out and explain the important points of your forum. Good luck with getting the forum off the ground and moving along. Also remember that it takes some time to build a successful forum so stay active on your own site and listen to what your own members want.
