What powers do you give your mods and admins?

Well on my forum, I don't play the game of Global Moderators. So I only have moderators and admins.

Moderators:

Regular thread related things, Locks, Moves, etc.
Ban members
Custom Titles
News

Admins: Everything except headers/footers/skins/deleting members

Evil ones!

Nah, only joking.

I don't have admins any more [the last admin I had was my host - and when he found out I wasn't going to start paying more and I was moving, he decided to delete every single forum! How professional! Thanks to Ryan's auto database backup script, I recovered, though ].

So, I have just global moderators at the moment who can edit, delete, lock, move, post in restricted foums, etc, but I'm also looking for forum leaders who will have the same powers but just for one forum.

Well, we don't have mods here at AF yet, just one super moderator...and as of now, all roles are actually quite similar.

Admins and Super Mods both have the power to lock, edit, delete, warn, and ban throughout the forums. Both groups also have access to our admin/planning section where we address any forum issues and make decisions on AF development. There is not much distinction between Admins and Super Mods right now, but in the future I imagine that Super Mods will focus more on reading through the forums and admins will focus more on handling "events", fixing user accounts, etc.

If we were to have regular Moderators, they would be limited to their own respective sections of course, and they would not have access to the admin/planning section, but instead access to a moderators forum.

I don't really believe in telling a certain group of staff that they are not allowed to edit, delete, ban, etc...afterall....say you tell your Admins this...what if they stumble across a violation in the forums...they aren't allowed to enforce the rules? I think it's ok to tell a group that they shouldn't be actively seeking violations, but if they do stumble across one, take care of it.

Hmm. Well, I have mods on different forum sections. And they can only enforce the rules there. They can only ban a member from that specific catagory, so I'd say that thats pretty useful to take to my advantage.

They can only warn members and lock topics etc. on that catagory.
It's pretty fun.

(It's fun when you know javascript so you can make up your own forum hacks like that )

Wow Ashley that really sucks...its a real good thing you backed it up.

I only have one mod and he can do all the normal moderating stuff like deleting editing and all the fun stuff.

So far I only have one other Super Moderator, but I have moderators roles figured out too.

I will probably be the only admin for a while, but if I did ever take on another admin they would probably have access to most adminstrative features.

Super Moderators can edit, delete, close, and move threads, have access to the style administration in the admin control panel (because my lone s-mod is great with graphics), and can warn and ban users. They also have access to the hidden forum.

I don't have any regular mods and I probably wouldn't until my forum grows very large, but if I ever have them, they will be able to moderate their own forums, warn but not ban users, and have access to a different private forum.
