Attempting to take over a popular yet unmanged forum

In my quest for new users, I've been posting at various major bittorrent forums, mostly pointing out how they can improve their forums, because forums are often 'tacked on' to such sites, with the focus being on the site contents. I'm sure there's similar things with other forum topics.

Anyhow, I've come across a MAJOR bittorrent forum, with no one running the show! The lights are on and nobody's home!

I've made the decision that I want to take over this forum, or persuade the owner to direct their forum to mine.

I've fired off 3 emails and PM with the same contents, one to the forum email, one to the admin pm, one to the site email and one to the email I got when I whoised the site domain explaining my offer to manage their forums. (refencing my forum experience etc etc)

I've never seen such a popular forum in need of such management before, I really hope I can get a reply and take over their forum ideally, be it managing their existing software (YABB) or pointing the site to my forum.

Obviously with me only having sent off emails so far, no dialogue has begun, nor can I consider myself 'in with a chance'. Does anyone have any idea what other ways I could try and reach a dialogue other than the ways mentioned?

The whois data tells me the site is run by a guy in germany, so I don't want to phone them in case they don't understand me, also I'd feel quite threatened by such phone call if I were in their position.

Additionally, the site has so many hits plus ads, it's pretty evident that the guy set this place up and now watches the money role in. Should I offer to buy his whole site?

There's no torrents on the site, it's not like a tracker site or anything, so I wouldn't be setting myself up for legal trouble. Since it seems the site makes money, it could be a decent investement to shell out £££ for it.

Whilst I await a response to my emails, does anyone have any advise for my situtation here?

The members are randomly coming in, posting questions about bittorrent clients etc (I can't forward my ports, things are downloading too slow!) then leaving forever.

It's only because the site is so SEO'd that it gets so much random traffic. There's no community to speak of.

So if there is no community, why do you think it is getting good traffic?

I have no idea. Keywords and domain name I guess. Speaking of which, the domains expire in 2 weeks time. Obviously there's the up to 75 days to wait before I could grab it, but I'll be hoping I can get it in any case
