Thumbs up [WIP] Launch Checklist
Ok, im going to try constructing a checklist here of things to do PRIOR to launching...after this is active, i will run another one for AFTER you have launched. Please feel free to reply with a list of things you feel are needed before launching a new community.

  • Detailed notes of...
  • --WHAT your forum is for
  • --WHY people will use it
  • --WHO will use it
  • Planning documents, detailing design interface, who is designing the skin? How much will it cost? How long will it take?
  • BETA test your forum prior to opening
  • Make a list of places you can advertise
  • Install all required modifications and additions before opening
  • Research your hosting requirements
  • Get some "base" content in place
  • Create some guidelines and rules
  • Place sticky threads in forums that you think may require additional rules or notes
  • Get a good domain name...maybe even a selection of domain names pointing to your main site
  • Take a look at some of your competitiors, what do you have that they dont? Why are people going to choose your site over theirs?
  • Create a privacy agreement as well as a terms of use. This can be apart of your forum rules.
  • Secure your server and forum software
  • Pay EXTREME attention to detail...your site needs to be PERFECT
