Title: Veteran Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 585 Location: HOTLANTA ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You might want to glance through a few mod manuals such as this one I posted: link That will give you a general idea of the dividing line between administrator and moderator, and you can fudge the lines from there. For me, a good mod is a GREAT member. Loyal, active, helpful, already brimming with ideas on how to keep interest in the subject matter active and people talking. I look for people who are passionate about the forum, not just people who who want power. I expect my mods to facilitate conversation. We have a daily thread in our offtopic forum, where everyone throws their 'good morning's, goodafternoon's, and goodnight's and checkin through out the day... just daily chat filled ith things that don't really need their own thread. I expect to see my mods in there at least a few times a day, looking especially for people who don't post a lot. In addition I expect the mods to use their powers to keep their sections clean and easy to navigate. Delete/merge/move/ close as needed, move older threads to archive, general goodhousekeeping. I don't expect my mods to be the bad guy-- they have no ban powers. But I do expect them to recognize a situation that needs to be addressed and move up the chain to someone who can handle it. I expect my mods to keep an eye out for the admins who are often too busy with high level tasks to see everything that happens on the board. Are you planning to just have one supermod or will you institute a mod for each forum? | ||||

That's the most of what you are looking for...we also touch on a few other requirements of moderators elsewhere in our "moderator manual" such as knowing the rules, procedure, who to contact, etc.
