Mods to post in closed thread?

Do you allow your mods to post in closed threads? I think I have in enabled but I am thinking about turning it off due to some mods posting useless things in closed threads. What do you think?

Nope, only staff. And the reason being i think staff are the only ones neccessary to do that, it could be like an update or a last comment. Mods don't really need to do it imo.

I think it some cases it might be necessary, like if a rule topic for a specific forum needed to be changed, and the admin(s) couldn't do it.

One forum I go on, the mods pretty much run the individual boards they're assigned, so they make the rule topics, and if there's an update they post replies in the closed threads.

What if the main staff are not around, and the Mod needs to explain something (I.E why it was locked)

well when my mods closed topics they usually made a post before they closed it, just giving a reason then. If they forgot, they have the power to just open it and post a reply again... Ok you got me CK, i guess i should just allow it to save them time.

It's not a problem of allowing or not in my forums. I think they can post "over" the closed thread, but they don't do it, unless really important. In a way it's a tease for other members who cannot surpass the closed issue.

Yes, I've given them the ability to do so, but they never do.

I do allow them to, but they hardly ever do it because they usually don't need to. If they do, I personally don't care, it could help explain it better. However, as all of my staff are "Management" as I call it (admins), and as I'm part of that group, they all would have the same permissions anyway

I'm also happy that in MyBB 1.2 it was changed to show the "Closed" image in the thread for staff - previously, it just showed the "New Reply" button as usual, so you couldn't really tell if the thread was closed or not (and you can realize your mistake if you said you were going to close the thread but ended up not clicking "Close thread" - I've done that before

No, I only allow the upper staff to do that. Usually there is no point of it because you can post what you want then close it, usually that is enough
