Have you ever had to Demote a mod?

I have, twice now. One for being immature and breaking the rules, and the other for getting waaaay to power mad.

Yes...it's never easy, but it's all a part of the business. You've got to be able to do this kind of stuff, because keeping a staff member on board who should not be on board can do a lot of damage to your community.

I had to get rid of an admin cus they tride to take over my forum and anouther (mod) for spaming the staff forum and flameing members.

Wow, the results to this poll are quite surprising. I'd never have thought that a mod would need to be demoted would be as common a thing.

yes i have demoted about 2 mods. 1 because they didn't follow the rules including 'visit and participate daily' i wasn't strict on that rule, i wouldnt mind if they didnt visit evey single day. But it became a habbit, he started to miss like 4 days in a row, then it became 1 visit per 2 weeks and it just wasn't enough. It was'nt the easiest thing to do i must admit.

Well, the other mod i demoted just dídn't pull his weight. Even though he is a mate and was highly active and helping the forums a lot, he just didn't seem to do things right when it came to moderating the forums. He would occasionally make mistakes, some minor but 1 or 2 costly. All was fixed but it just couldn't continue.

Yes, I have only had to do it once. It's a very hard thing to do, but my forums are more important than keeping someone around that could possibly give us a bad name.

I did it once. It was my fault though. I was overstaffed and it went to all hell.
