What are the top 5 things you want your staff to know right off the bat? here are mine: * Know how to use the moderator functions * Have people skills * How to spot infractions * Good Grammar & Spelling * Doesn't gripe at their duties What are yours?

| 1: Know the control panels well. 2: People skills, and be able to get along with a wide variety of people. 3: Good Spelling & Grammar 4: Know the difference between when a ban or a just a warning is in order 5: Know what to do in a delicate situation if a person of higher rank is not about. (applies to moderator)

| 1) How I like my coffee (if remote staff then skip to number 2) 2) How to engage people in dialogue 3) How to handle a problem situation with both swiftness and grace 4) Have the skills or at least aptitude to understand available tools at their disposal 5) see #1

| 1. The ability to click and interact with the community. 2. The ability to effectively implement the rules when appropriate without applying a biased point of view. 3. The ability to demonstrate understanding & patience, particularly towards newer members. 4. The 'desire' to be an active member & moderator. Nothings worse than a moderator that's there because they have to be. 5. And finally, a professional attitude.
