Giving Mods Infractions

Do you think it would be right to give moderators infractions?
What I say is: No
If you have to give your mods infractions, you know they're not good mod material. Cause if you're demoting mods right and left, you know there's a problem.

Good Moderator Material
Has never received an infraction and knows every rule
Bad Moderator Material
Has received an infraction before, and doesn't know any rules

So remember that. You might have to demote a moderator someday. Also, don't make a member a mod ef they have received an infraction.

Well, it depends. If a member has had a "not so hot" past, but has improved dramatically over a period of time and has all of the qualities of a good moderator, then I would promote them, no questions asked. I personally feel that all members, and even staff members, deserve a second chance, and one infraction is not going to change my mind.

It is important to realize that people do make mistakes, and the internet can at times be a hotbed of civil unrest. Everyone has a certain subject that they can get emotionally involved in, so it's wise to consider that before everything else.

If a mod does something against the rules I think they deserve an infraction just as much as anybody else. I would actually enforce the rules more strictly to my staff as they are supposed to set an example.

But what I say is:
Instead of giving an infraction, take away their mod priveledges. Then if you do it again, give an infraction.

If a moderator makes a mistake, I am definately not going to take away their moderator status. At first, I'll give them a warning, and maybe an infraction (depending on the situation).

This is what I would do. Everyone makes mistakes, taking away mod status from a mod for 1 mistake is like banning a user for 1 mistake. Almost.

I think that if they did something against the rules, tell them, and warn them if necessary. Even if you don't warn them, at least contact them. I don't think they should get their mod status revoked for just a small mistake. If they continue doing it, by all means, kick them off the team. Demoting the mod is almost (not really, but sort of) equivalent to banning a member - would you ban a member for one small thing, or would you ban them for constant breaking of the rules? Most likely the latter...

Everyone makes mistakes... even mods. And even you!

But then, is it right for a super mod to give a regular mod an infraction, or a regular mod another regular mod an infraction?

In my opinion, no. Only the administrators should be able to give moderators infractions. I think giving mods infractions should remain in the hands of administrators, and not other mods. I think that keeps it more fair than mods giving other mods warnings/infractions...
