Co-Admin acting as if he's the boss

Ok here's my problem, I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing but it's annoying me and making me not really enjoy being on my site

A year ago I was an Admin on a guy's forum helping out and everything and was an Admin until the forum closed a few weeks ago. A couple of weeks before that forum closed I made my own site to mess aroung with etc.

When the forum closed down, we moved the forum, members etc to my site (My server, domain etc) so we wouldn't lose the members we had etc. Now it was my site and everything and he knows that.

A couple of days ago I moved the site to vBulletin, converted it and everything, and now he's acting as if he owns it all and is making all the decisions. He's changing how I made stuff appear, he's making announcements regarding things I don't even know about, saying what changes need to be done because he doesn't like how the forum is etc and it's doing my head in

Now, I'm not the type to ask/tell him to stop etc so I'm stuck I guess I'm too nice (or a pushover) Even one of the members was telling me he thought that he had no right to do what he was doing etc and that he seemed rude. Tonight I just felt like banning or deleting him just to get rid of him, obviously I wont but it's just really annoying me. I want to enjoy the move and setting everything up etc but I can't

What would you do?

This can be quite a sticky situation and he could become offended and you could lose his frienship depending on how you handle it.

Ask yourself these questions before you make a decision about banning or other drastic measures.

Why did he choose to close down the other forum.

Why are you now paying for the server/domain/etc

Do you want him to have an equal partnership with you or are you taking over the site completely.

Did he ask that you take all the members etc to your site and did he ask to be a part of the newly created site in an admin capacity or did you offer it to him.

Does he understand that in moving everything to your site so the information etc is not lost that it is now your site and no longer his.

Simple, you come to an understanding right away that these things will come to a stop immediately. Even if you guys were equal partners, which it does not sound like is the case, agreements must be made before things are done publicly.

Put a stop to it before it gets any further out of hand.

I would agree with that . If he does not stop after calmly talking to him start restricting some of his powers like making announcements or something else not too critical and tell him if he has an announcement to make that he can tell you and you can either approve or disapprove it and this will be the way it works until he can learn that making decisions is a two person job when you co-run a board.

I'd kick his ass off the site and tell him to do horrible things to himself.

Like FreetalkMaster says, you can remove some of his admin permissions. You can give him limited access to the ACP. Just goto the admin permissions area. I forget how to get there, but if you click on his account, demote him, save, then re-promote him to admin, then the link appears in red at the top.

Anyone that starts taking over my forum and running things like they own it behind my back doesn't need to have any access to my forum much less my admincp. Grow some balls and tell him how it's going to be. I am guessing you paid for the vBulletin license and you did all the work so I fail to see why you let him push you around like that.

Yeah, I agree.

Whats the point of even keeping him on the site at all? As soon as you demote him from admin (which you should do no matter what) he'll get distraught and probably start to just cause drama on your site. Not worth it.

That's the whole thing really.

I'm worried that he'll start trouble or get annoyed if I de-mote him because he's said things before like, he doesn't feel right not being an Admin on places
