Dedication, being ready to learn, a willingness to help, and being able to 'speak softly, but carry a big stick' are the main things I look for.

We mostly get political and gaming discussion, so it was important to have a diverse group of moderators to balance things out. The main thing was if they were active members, willing to help, and if they're articulate and fairly respected on the forums.

How do you know if you can trust a stranger (even though they have been members for awhile, you've never met them) with something you've dedicated so much time to? It's almost like a child that you want to find the right babysitter for. How did the rest of you get over that initial fear? It would be nice to get a real-life friend to do it, but that isn't always feasible.

You only need to bring somebody on if you are 100% comfortable with that decision.

| Title: Rookie Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 17 ![]() | My "Grillpack of Friends" help "staff" my forum. These are the folks who help out the show the most and are the most computer literate. The only exception is my friend from India who is my biggest fan and would do anything to help out Good ole Grilldog, so when I'm traveling or busy, she looks after the forum for me. So Trust and computer ability and oh, undedicated admiration of me helps too... Really, I'm that vain!
