Needing a co-admin?

I've been wondering if I should hire a new admin? I have moderators and I love them, but they aren't techish or great idea builders. I'd like someone to take care of the forum when I'm not around much (I'm moving) and produce content. Not to mention projects and features. My forum is still small and it seems forums tend to grow a bit more sometimes with a couple extra staff. I'm just wondering what I should look into or know besides the obivious.

I have one person in mind. I know him from an older forum and sometimes is active on mine. I was thinking of having him help with certain montly projects and set up a radio. As well as taking care of something just incase. Like problem members or such. I'm not yet sure if he'd be interested or willing to give the time.

I'm affraid I don't know many who's be able to commit much and have the time. Other sites have a better network people willing to give because of staff.

Read this if you haven't already.

I can't pull up your forums right now...I wanted to look at them, because it honestly sounds to me like you don't need more staff. If your community is not large enough where you don't think you can find anybody who would be good on staff, then odds are, you don't need staff. Don't assume that more staff = bigger forums...It works the other way around, and you don't want to overload your forums with a bunch of staff in hopes that they will somehow make your forums grow.

Since I can't bring your forums up right now...What are your numbers like right now? Members? Posts? Current staff? Posts per day?

Do you ever have a problem with lack of staff around to moderate the forums?

If your currently the only admin, I'd say get another one. I never only have one admin.

I need people other than me who can be repsonsible for making content. If you look at most of the sections, I've pretty much been the only person making threads.

And like I said. I'm moving. I won't be able be on as much for a while when that happens.

My forum doesn't have spam problems. But I can't say I like the fact that my moderators are no longer active. They haven't been online for a while, so they don't know what's going on or my plans. One is moving to the US and one is busy with both school and work. The third, I returned as a member after I PMed him about the situation.

I would hire another moderator perhaps. Usually part of a moderator's job is to make threads and stuff. The job of an admin is to manage, not post. Obviously you still do, but what I am saying is you don't need to give someone the admin rank in order to request threads to be created by that person.
