I would definitely say you need to contact them. It's not fun being one member of the staff but doing the work of several people. you owe it to your active mods to follow up so they don't have to bear the weight of the load. Some things you can do to keep staff active 1. Establish moderating guidelines (i.e. you must be on the forum for 2 hours a week) 2. Have a weekly check in thread 3. Ask mods to let you know if they will be gone for more than a week at a time.  | ||||

And if I were you, I would add a staff rules page that staff members have to agree to, where one of the rules is that if you're going to go somewhere for at least a week, you should post in the staff room so no one wonders where you're at. ~Crystal

Join Date: Aug 2006 Posts: 96 | I'm surprised at the problems with mods, just dissappearing. Just vanish and nothing more. I had one lady email me about being mod again, but she never signed on the board. So that tells me she's been on but didn't want to log in, and be seen. Just kinda rude, so obviously the answer was no. I think I've had like 5 vanish into thin air. I didn't even panick till 4 weeks passed. And if they didn't respond in a week, Demoted they go. One got very sick, maybe even passed away (MS) I waited like 2 months, emailed several times to see how things were, nothing

| We have strict moderator guidelines for this reason. If mine don't make their post counts for the week (which is a small number) then we contact them to find out what is going on. If we hear nothing back we wait one more week and demote them. They all have my phone number so not having internet service is no excuse. If they do by chance have a good excuse for not being there for two weeks, I might consider having them back on staff, but they would have to start from the bottom and work their way back up because they need to earn my trust once again..
