Do you have rules now for them? You might have to reinforce them at each meeting(if you have them). I have to do this at our monthly meeting and I have a thread stickied on the staff board that also reminds them of the rules. After a while they will pick up on it that you are serious and will start to follow the rules.

| Title: Groupie Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 35 Location: Ga ![]() | I have a similar situation my moderators are active but only seem to post like members and do not seem to do their share of helping with new topics. I have asked nicely to help out but usually get excuses like I am really busy. I really hate to demote them because they are a great asset to my forum but on the other hand they do not meet my expectations. I am not sure what to do with out hurting someones feelings. I have thought about looking for another moderator who has more time & can help more but I don't know should I give them a ultimatum or just add another moderator.Any advice?

You have to communicate. If you are too afraid to do anything about this, then it's just going to keep happening...It's really up to you. Communicate your feelings. If nothing changes, then do something about it. These things don't just solve themselves.

You should also make it clear to them that IF they slack off (ie: make up excuses, goof off, not participate as much as they should, etc), they will be demoted. IMO, when you promote someone to such a position, they shouldn't even have to be reminded of the responsibilities that they have, and the tasks in which they must fulfill, as a staff member. | Title: Groupie Join Date: Aug 2007 Posts: 48 Location: Canada, eh? ![]() ![]() | I've never had a demote a mod before. And if they do need to be away from the site for an extended period of time they always let me know. The only time I've gotten rid of someone was an admin that pretty much killed my site in June..
