Unactive Moderators

Hello.

At my forum I currently have 3 moderators and 1 super moderator who is brilliant.

One of my moderators hasn't been online for 3 weeks now and I don't know what to do.

Do you ever demote you moderators because they aren't active and do you have any tips on getting them to post more?

Regards
Calum

Try to get in touch with the moderator through pm/email. He/She might be sick or might have some problem at home, if you don't get a respond then send the mod an email stating that you are changing his account from moderator to user due to that fact that he/she hasn't been active recently.

I also agree with this, I for one hate going to a site, and seeing staff that hasn't been active, because it shows to me, that they dont even care about their own site they run.

I agree with bcmtouring.

Try to contact them through email or instant messenger to try and find out why they haven't been online. If you can't get ahold of them after so long, then you have to just demote them and move on.

Just a side question, how long would you wait before demodding if you couldn't get hold of them?

I would just contact them, but if they don't reply or don't come back to your forums, put them down to a group like - V.I.P, Friend what ever you have on your forums so they don't fell like you have just given up on them.

I hope you moderator comes back though

They have been active for ~3 weeks but where they live it is the summer holidays so they could be away.

I have sent them an email now, if they don't reply in 1 or 2 weeks then I will put them into the VIP group at my forum and find a new moderator.

If they want do you think I should let them be a moderator again if them come back?

Moderating is a secondary responsibility next to real life. There could be social traumas or events in his or her respective life that limits their time on your forum. As everyone else has said, try to contact them.

And I REALLY need to point this out: It is inactive moderators, not unactive.
