staff to do list

Do you as an admin, give your staff members, lists of what you want done and a time scale these should be done by? Such as
  1. Submit the site to, blah, blah and blah within the coming week.
  2. make blah amount of replies
  3. Create blah new topics
  4. speak to blah and blah about affiliations

Or is this something that would never be done?

i hav thought about this many times about having some sort of 'loose' to do list, withought any time scales for completion, i was just wondering what you guys think?

I usually don't give them specific numbers of posts they have to make or things like that, but they do have to be among the most active members in the forum.

Yep, ditto...No set numbers. I think by doing that, you're treating your staff like children.

At AF, we just request that our staff members log in around 30 minutes per day and "actively participate in discussion". Both of these are more for staff presence than anything else. I think that having an active staff is very important.

I think it's great for you to have your own to do list and you can let them know what you are planning on doing but giving them guidelines (unless you are paying them a good salary, they're helping you out).

I just expect them to behave in an adult manner when arguing in the forum and to delete any spam or stop any arguments which go out of control. After all they are not paid to do this, so it just wouldn’t be right to expect them to do all this!

Nope, i have never done this to my staff, they know what there roles are as an admin or mod, i don't need to post goals and treat them as they like work for me, i tend to treat them as my friends and not set goals.

I think sharing of ideas, goals and plans is good.

I have some staff who say "what can I do?" and others who don't at all.
