Off Site Staff Work?

Anyone ask the staff on your forum to get involved in other forums for promoting yours? I haven't done this and don't really want to encourage my staff to go elsewhere, but curious to know if others utilize anything along these lines to (potentially) bring in members from other sites?

Nope. I do it myself. I tried to talk to one of my moderators about placing a link to our site in her signature but she never did.

Not a good idea unless they do it themselves, after all the last thing you want is them spamming other forums because you told them to “spread the word”!

They represent your site whether or not you tell them to do it. So I would suggest making them let you know if they are doing it so you can view what they are saying exactly.

I do it all the time but I own the site and make sure if I do it... I try not to step over any boundaries.

I don't say they can't, or say they can, if they want to promote my board, then they can go ahead - as long as they don't spam.

The guy that is helping my with talkpa is advertising with myspace a lot and on other forums.....he's a god send.

I don't think any of my staff would be staff if I believed they might be spammy ... so it seems that nobody encourages this with staff. Interesting.
