i have a low tolerance for people with the " i am tuff" attitude, also for people who post to increase their post count with useless happy faces etc. my forum caters to the "goth" scene and tends to get overly dramatic at times. the o0o i want to die but how shall i do it" topics get locked real fast then killed off. so far i haven't had many problems with too many people. three years going and all is well. the term "newbie" drives me nuts so i won't put up with the " i have been here longer than you therefore i am right" i let most things go until it seems to be getting out of hand. no porn no personal attacks. simple rules really, few and not too complicated.

I believe that it depends on your forum community atmosphere. if you have a mature forum then you should let your community reason out matters and only intervene when things are out of hand within extreme measures. There are many ways of handling things but ultimately it's a case by case scenario so there is no one single answer.

I try to be as strict as possible with members. Most of the time I will either warn or ban a user straight away depending on how and what they did.

I'm a bit too lax sometimes ... I hate having to come with administrative measures against my people.
