What to do if a staff member leaves?

It appears that our super moderator over at Talk Budgies has abandoned us. She hasn't even been on the site since July 15. I have checked out two other budgie forums and she's still active on those. The thing is, up until that date she was a very active member and she seemed to really enjoy our site. I have tried e-mailing and PMing her and I haven't gotten a response. I'm hesitant to contact her on one of the other budgie sites though as I think she might get mad if I did that. The reason why I don't want her to get mad is because she was a very valuable member to our community. She had a lot of experience and knowledge and while she was with us she seemed very loyal. If she ever decides to return I don't want her to be mad. She was probably one of our most knowledgeable members. This is what me and my other admin have decided: we're going to give her a few more days to respond to our e-mail or PM. If she doesn't, we're going to e-mail her again telling her that we've really appreciated her time as moderator and we're wondering if she's still willing to commit to the position since we've noticed she hasn't been active for a couple weeks. We'll also say that we're giving her until a certain date (right now August 15) to respond. If she doesn't respond by then, we'll have no choice but to remove her from her position and find a replacement as we need an active moderator to keep things under control and running smoothly. Do you think this a good route? What else do you suggest I do? Should I consider contacting her through one of the other websites she's active at? Any advice would be appreciated!

If she questions it when (and if) she returns I'll simply tell her that she was inactive for too long of a period to keep her position. Thanks everyone!

After 14 days of inactivity, and no responce to mails, demotion is the next logical step. If she has a good reason, then you can promote with no problems.
