Join Date: Aug 2006 Posts: 142  | It's a sad, sad day Our local community forum has just been demolished after 10 years. The admin gave admin rights to someone who'd been with the board from conception. This person must have hacked the database last night and deleted the whole lot. Nothing remains except a 404 warning. I've been in touch with a few members myself who live nearby and they said they where emailed by the new admin saying the board was closing for good. I know this isn't the truth as I've spoken to the original admin, who at the moment is drinking himself into oblivion. He had bigger ideas by expanding further out into our area. His sponsors where probably almost 40% of community businesses and he doesn't think he'll get them back. I asked about a backup, and eveidently a job he'd given to this new admin was to back up the forums. He also says he stopped backing up when his assistant admin took over... A sad, sad day...and why on earth do people do this?

Join Date: Aug 2006 Posts: 142 | Like I said, the original admin gave all backup db jobs to the new admin, so he never saved anything of the old forum, just deleted it. Accidental use of buttons? Hmm..never thought of that. It's a possibility, but why then would he email members saying the board was closing? This could end up as a conspiracy theory 101, infact a few old members have already started, lol. I'm hoping to find out myself in the next few hours what really went on, but till then its speculation.
