Can someone help me with this header/menu area?

I have a new header image and menu area that I'm useing with CMSmadesimple on my main website. (not up yet, but will be soon)

I want to take that header and menu and place it inside the forum at the top. So it looks like the forum is intergrated into the website, but really it's just the header and menu stuck in the forum. Make sense?

I don't want to 'intergrate' both softwares if I don't have too. I just need that one part at the top so people can click on the navigation from the website while still at the forum.

I don't have any idea how to do this. I think the template for the CMS is in XHTML, and it uses CSS, so how do I put that into the SMF forum? Can anyone help me with this please? I hope I'm explaining this correctly, if not just let me know. It's probably something super easy for anyone who knows what their doing, which is not me at this point.

You will probably need to edit index.template.php, have a look at it, don't be put off by t he php in there, it's mostly fairly basic and you will be able to work it out.

The problem I'm having is that when I add the header to the index template I get a bunch of errors. Do I need to 'call' the header by using some php in the template instead of putting the html directly in there?

I think the html from the header and php from the forum are conflicting and causing errors and I'm not sure how to get around that.

Sorry Ann, never had a chance to reply, in general it's fairly simple, you just need to ensure that you retain the php echo statements, so any code you add needs to be within the echo statement.

If you aren't using a text editor with syntax highlighting, I highly recommend you use one, context <http://www.context.cx/> is fairly decent and will enable you to see fairly simply where you code errors are.
