Hello,

I was rather fond Lightscribes pm member limits idea, that i decided to incorporate it into my own forum(SMF):

PMs: This goes up with post count, along with how many you can send. People with no posts can only send 1 at a time so noone bothers PM spamming our forum

Have found out that this membergroup configuration clashes with the general features and options settings on the board, and was wondering if you could help. The main configuration has the feature of:

Number of personal messages a user may send in an hour.

When i put 1 for instances, the new user who has only a total amount of 1pms to send in total, has the opportunity to send 1pm every hour with this function on. If i type zero, it will be unlimited pms sent for everyone. So, you see where the clash is.

I have asked SMF support, and they have said, the only way to change that, is to change the code(via PersonalMessage.php in the Sources directory-a guess from an smf staff helper) or make a modification for it.

Anyone know how this could be possible? All help would be much appreciated.

I have now fixed this. I discovered a different permissions way of doing it last night, and deleted the 'regular members' group, and added my current post count based groups, then set the permissions to go with their membergroup, priviliges, and pm limits.

This is yet not fully operational, as its pms per hour sent for everyone and not maximum of total number of pms, which is what I want. I have the options in permissions, but the main setting at sending pms per hour is confusing me.
