Microsoft without Bill...

As I'm sure a lot of you already know... Bill Gates retired from Microsoft. IMO, he has been a really good leader for the Company and is the reason personal computing is so widely adopted now.

I don't think that it will/has mattered much. Microsoft has been and probably always will be the premier brand/face of all things electronic.

they are losing market share daily. they were to slow to get into the "internet" world and are now trying to play catch up. They are so far behind Google that they are almost in a panic to buy something, anything that will let them compete. With hundreds of millions in available cash they will buy other companies, but will it be to late to stop the shrinking of their influence.
I appreciate what Bill built. I wold love to have 60 or so billion dollars like he does. But to think the next decade will be easy for Microsoft is probably very far from reality. Will be interesting to see how they react to the monster that is google and others trying to take more and more of their market share.

I think they also have a pretty good cloud email system, windows live hotmail. And Live Mesh also looks interesting, so yeah, I think that Windows will go away in a few years, and be replaced by Mesh or something like that.

Google pretty much kinda owns the internet domain, i highly doubt microsoft will be able to take it away from them. Microsoft should just carry on with what they are doing, and making what they have better, rather than spend loads of money trying to compete with google.

And bill hasn't been that active with Microsoft lately anyway has he?
