This week, in addition to vBulletinsetup.com, CrowdGather acquired AnythingButiPod.com, the leading mp3 player review site. While this forum is not related to forum administration we think it is a pretty amazing site and we wanted to tell you a little about it.

Graham Skee has done something pretty compelling. The site has over 62,000 members and has gathered mentions in the New York Times, Newsweek, and other publications thought the world. In 2007, PC Magazine named the site one of the top 100 undiscovered websites of that year. Just last month, Christian Science Monitor referenced 'anything but iPod' when it talked about the release of Zune HD.

Skee's success can be attributed to many things but one primary factor was that he found pretty sizable niche market. We have discussed this a lot on AdminFusion but Skee is a clear example of how this is possible. The total mp3 market in the U.S. is dominated by iPod but they still only hold 69% of the market. The remaining 31% is still a very large market and these users are the types of users that like to do their homework when they are purchasing products. This factor, along with a lot of hard work, has lent itself to the growth of the site.

There is a lot we can learn from AnythingButiPod.com and it also is a pretty fantastic site if you happen to be part of the 'anything but iPod' crowd. If you have the time we recommend that you check it out.
