Member Awards

I have noticed on many forums they have member rewards, such as 'member of the month', 'funniest member', and things like that. I think that would be a good feature to implement into AdminFusion, and maybe give the member of the month its own member group, title, and colour?

We do have that, it's called Forum of the Month. That award is given to the member who submits their forum as well. It might not be a bad idea to have something for members on their own but I think things work well with what we have.

I knew there was forum of the month, but member of the month would go to someone who has contributed to the forum, and stayed out of trouble.

The problem with this is the picking process...there are really two ways to do it - either hold a poll that all members can vote on or have the staff hand pick somebody each month...I have never been a fan of public polls like this because they always turn into popularity contests - it's basically who knows the most people and who has the most friends who will come in here and vote...it's not who is the "best" member...and then regarding the staff handpicking somebody, well that would just be hard to do...I just can't see us looking at a pool of ~300 members and coming to a consensus on the one who is the "best"

I dunno, I'm always up for more suggestions...but things like this are very hard to actually execute...they sound good at first, but when you start looking at it closely, things get complicated. Our Forum of the Month contest is a huge success, and I think that it fits quite well at AF...since we're all about forums of course

For the member of the month, you should hold a public poll of 20 people you think are the best of that month, and the memebers then vote. Then, you could take the top 5 or so voted by the members, and staff decide from there?

Like I said, public polls always turn into popularity contests...people aren't going to vote on the best person, they're going to vote on their best friend.

I suppose your right. I suggested the 20 person idea, then going down to 10 so it would try to get rid of that, but I suppose it would only cut it down. And then you have the complications of members creating multiple accounts to vote for themselves..

..Maybe not such a good idea.
