We have considered the possibilty of adding an arcade to the forums here at AdminFusion. For those of you that do not know, this would be an added feature with many stored flash games. Members could play these games and record high scores - competing against everybody else for the top spot.

The question at hand - should we add an arcade to AdminFusion?

This is obviously not exactly a community built around games, but an arcade could make for a nice way for us forum admins to relax when going through tough times . The possible downsides would be that members become distracted by the arcade - foregetting about the forums and discussions themselves. Is this something that you think would benefit the community or no?

I have mixed emotions about the arcade.

I have always enjoyed arcade mods, no matter what the forum content.

However, you run a risk of having people join for the sole purpose of playing the arcade.

I say if there's a way to avoid people doing that, then go for it. Everyone loves to play a silly game now and then.

There is definitely a way to avoid that...We can limit the arcade to people who have 10 posts or more...we could even limit the arcade to members who maintain x posts per day. This way, only active members in the forums will be able to use it.

Another concern that comes with the arcade is bandwidth costs - which can get very high if it is used heavily...these could be minimized by requiring members to donate to the forums in order to use the arcade - but I feel as if donation privileges should hold off until we have a more established community, with more to offer.

Speaking only for myself:

Adding games to the forum would not matter to me . That is not why I come to this forum or any other forum for that matter. I use forums to find specific information and share my knowledge to the community.

That and I am not a game player type. I don't even have games on my PC. The last game I played was the original Doom. For about 10 minutes

Me = old school baord games ;D

Just an update on this situation...so you don't think that we are sitting on our hands doing nothing

We have installed and tested the Arcade mod and there is one particular feature we are not pleased with. This means we will either fix it ourselves or wait for another version to be released. Both of which could be a potentially long way away, so no need to anticipate an Arcade any time soon . It could very well happen, we just don't want anybody getting their hopes up.
