Twitter - What will they do next?

Twitter.com

Just a few short months ago this site was only known to an elite few. This group has started a new movement that has celebs such as Ashton Kutcher, and Late Night host Jimmy Fallon "tweeting" every chance they can. This tool is fascinating in the sense that it's not similar to Facebook or MySpace with all the glitz and glamor. Also called "Micro-blogging" the only purpose of twitter is to simply put your thoughts into a one or two sentenced comment.

Many sites now are using twitter to attract a new base of customer offering special discounts or codes if you join their feed. What's convenient about the whole thing is it really acts as a mailing list but with quicker results.

Twitter can be used as a clever marketing tool if used and advertised properly. Even with forums this new Social tool is going to be a vital part of advertising to reach a whole new surfer base.

Other popular sites like tiny url, tinypic, and tinyvid have also come onto the screen with clever domains and purposes. My question is, what do you think the next leap in social networking will be?

I haven't really used twitter for any of my websites, I just have the personal one for now, but I definitely recognize it's potential and think it's a great tool to use. As for the next leap in social networking, it's hard to say. I think if anybody knows what it will be they are already going out to register a domain and build a site to take advantage of that.

I'm on twitter all the time
I'm starting to get jobs from twitter and have been able to see the traffic, clicks and when it's happening directly from twitter and other social networks.

I ain't a twitter'er just yet.. It's weird though that they took something so simple and turned it into something so big.
