New Host Needed, ASAP!

I'm running our of bandwidth at a pretty quick pace with my current host. The bad news is, I can't afford their next level shared plan.

I need to find a new, cheaper host. I need atleast 100GB of bandwidth monthly for a good price. Preferably something around $10 a month.

I have found a couple websites which offer a large amount of bandwidth in shared plans, but I'm not sure how trust worthy they are.

http://www.site5.com/ offers 400GB of bandwidth per month at a cost of $7.77 if you order 2 years.

http://www.powweb.com/ offers 300GB of bandwidth per month at a cost of $7.77 with a $30 set-up fee if you order less than 1 year.

Both of those plans are more than I currently need, but my problem is I haven't heard any really good or bad things about those companies.

However, when investigating PowWeb, in their live chat one customer was complaining about his website being down. It turned out that some one was launching a DOS attack on one of their clusters. This worried me a little bit, because I can't afford downtime (literally).

If you've heard anything about either of those companies, or you know where I can find an even better offer, please let me know as soon as you can. Before the end of this month, I will run out of my allowed bandwidth.

100gb for $10 a month!

Those plans are incredible..I've heard of both companies all over the place, but have never really heard any personal accounts, so unfortunately I don't have any advice for you. I really would like to hear how it goes with whatever company you decide to go with though, so keep us updated!

Why not get your own server? Makes things so much easier.

...Um...He is looking for a host for under $10/month. I believe your own server would cost just a bit more than that...

Yeah, price is a huge issue with me right now. I'm poor and I wont get a check from Yahoo! for another month and 10 days, give or a take a few for shipping.

I have seen many different places offering a ton of bandwidth for really cheap recently. Like GoDaddy.

Anyway, I think I'll be going with Site5. A friend of mine uses them and says he has never had any down time.

Whatever you do, don't go with Godaddy's hosting...I've heard bad things about them. Buying a domain through godaddy is fine, but they dont specialize in hosting and therefore have limited resources (as far as support and uptime goes) for it.

Yeah, it sounded kind of fishy when I first heard about it. But theres so many other hosts trying to get on the "massive bandwidth" bandwagon. It's hard to know how is grossly overselling and who will legitimately give you that much bandwidth.

Site5 might, they're a huge company.

I'd go with site5 if you have to choose one of the ones in the original post.

Yeah, Site5 is the most reputable of the two. I'm sure you cant exactly go wrong with them. HostGator is another very popular host

http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml

Unfortunately you can only get 75gb from them...although you wouldnt have to order 2 years worth of hosting, you could pay monthly

Well, I'm starting to get a lot of visitors from search engines lately. In October, I had 30GB and I ran out. I upgraded then, and now I'm close to passing 50GB. So I think 400GB should last me for quite a long time, without having to upgrade again. So I don't mind paying for two years up front.
