Easiest to modify forum software?

Thoughts on which software packages are the easiest to modify to integrate into your website?

By far, at least so far, I have found that PunBB seems to be easiest because it is so light in code to begin with.

vBulletin does not seem terribly difficult, but nowhere near as easy as PunBB.

What about some of the others?

XMB? IPB? phpBB? YABB? MyBB?

For me is phpBB, since its open source, the code is easier to know and to modify. Also, it is totally commented.

For website integration, IPB. The IPB SDK easily lets you integrate your forum member database with your website. You can easily grab most information from the forum db and use it in your PHP scripts.

MyBB is fairly easy to theme towards the look of your website. I wouldn't say it falls under the criteria of actual integration, though it can sure look like it.

As with others, I've heard wonder stories on how people integrate IPB with the their websites, so I'll cast my vote for IPB as well.

phpBB all the way. Worked on VB, IPB, myBB (couldn't make anything on SMF) and it;s the easiest. My best templates and sites are on phpBB...

Likewise, SMF has something similar (although as a default feature, not a mod.)

I use it to power my entire site.

Ditto. SMF is perfect not only for mods but an expansion. SMF serves as a backend for the CMS of entire websites (including two of mine! ).
