Smile UseBB or MiniBB?

I am considering using UseBB or MiniBB for my new site, just wanted to know if we have any users using it. please share your experience.

The other thing that is stopping me using UseBB script is minimum standard fetures like PM, Polls. For miniBB they at least have them as paid addons..

please share your view on which one is good from your point of view?

May I ask why you limited your choices down to just UseBB and MiniBB? There are plenty of other options out there that are superior to both UseBB and MiniBB, such as SMF, phpBB, and MyBB, and they are all free, as well. However, if I had to pick between the two pieces of software that you mentioned, I would choose UseBB, simply because I feel that it is more user-friendly.

If you are looking in the direction of small, simple and effective forum software you may take a look at punbb also.

Ah yes, PunBB is also another free + simple choice, and it probably has more standard features than both UseBB and MiniBB do.

Thanks for the suggestions

Chris, to answer your question, I am looking at "light" and "clean" BB script and hence considering usebb, minibb etc.

Ah, alright! Well then, I think PunBB would be the best solution, simply because it has a nice set of features, and is simple at the same time. Either way, I think you should take them all for a test drive before making a final decision.

This is quite an old thread, and sagar has probably already chosen the software that he is going to use. Also, the majority of posts that you have made all state that phpBB is better. Why is that? Why do you feel that phpBB is better than the rest? I'm don't mean to sound rude, but I just want to know why you love phpBB so much; you haven't really given us any details as to why you do.

sammael we need to date. I think we'd be the perfect phpBB fan couple

Kidding ..

Why would he consider phpBB the best choice? I might think of some personal ideas:

1. if there's a need for a simple script, phpBB is ... when just installed it's got only some default options (and not even all of the ones I'd need for instance). But it's simple to use and not feature heavy

2. a huge community with thousands of skins/hacks/tricks. When you want to put that baby on fire, there's a lot of "goodies" to be used. They've got hacks for ANYTHING possible and impossible. Hacks that mimick other scripts features (so that I won't have anyone roll eyes and tell me they don't know which threads they posted in, they don't have topic description, post icon, gallery, arcade and so on) plus so many "weird" hacks that almost do the salad for you

From time to time I browse the modifications list and try some new stuff. These guys are just amazing. Some hacks are funny, even if not always that useful. But some people like useless junk, so we have even that.

3. Unrivaled template system. If you want to have a skin controll like in VB and others, install extreme styles. If you like to just mess on the files, create a unique layout and then port it, strip down the layout in a certain page and then re-do it, nothing can stop you. Even a beginner knows some HTML. so .. it's easy.

and the list can go on ...

On the second hand jijo got VB for the forum as I know .. and we'll have a new skin for it these days (just need to gather my senses and put down some colours in the forum)
