My favorite is WowClassic but wowbb-based is probably the more general asnwer I should give since I have been a wowbb customer (my site 24HourForums is wowbb) and was attracted to it initially because I found its genreal look (way of doing things) and methods to be more comfortable for me. It made it easy for me to get comfortable tweaking and such. Plus, I never liked the look of the other software, although if I had to pick another I would pick AdminFusion's style, or PhotoPost's style, which I think are the same software basically.

I switched my wowbb board to phpbb3 and wow I wish I would of done it sooner. Lots of features, great mod and support community, don't have to pay for mods, has everything I need and more.

Wowbb is ok if you are starting out and do not know much about forums as it is really easy to use but lack of updates and features is one of the reasons I left.

I like IPB too and may go that route down the road as I am starting another forum.

I'm also running phpBB3 and I love it. I suppose my biggest attraction is its opensource nature. I have more respect for people that allow you to modify and redistribute their code. It makes modding much easier.

I have used a few of the others and always find my way back to vBulletin.

I do have to ask an important question and I am sure that it has been discussed but not openly that I have seen. "Of all the Admin Boards, how many of them are running vBulletin and how many are running something else?" Just something to ponder.

Oh, it's no question, vBulletin is the best software available, hands down. Granted, it isn't free, but by far, it's easier to use, and has more functionality,

I still regret to this day not spending the little bit extra I wasted to get wowbb and got IPB or VB instead, however one learns from their mistakes. but phpbb3 is great I find and another forum I run is mybb which is great too and looking forward to their release of 1.4.

IPB and VB are the only two paid forums really worth buying in my books.

I am going to vote vBulletin, although I have respect for all forum software packages.

The modding community for vB is second to none and reminds me of the old days when I used to run a dial-up ANSI BBS using Worldgroup/MajorBBS software.
