vBulletin is very popular software - It's the most popular paid software out there today. I also think that it offers more features, flexibility, and security than any other forum software. Does that make it the best? Not necessarily. A lot of it depends on what your needs are and whether or not you have money to spend on software.

Search around this forum though, there are tons of threads on this same exact topic....You also may want to check out our forum demos and comparisons for some hands on experience.

I like IPB, but not because I have simplistic needs or a lack of funds. It is a powerful piece of software that easily holds it's own in comparison to any other forum software and in some aspects exceeds all others. As a user I also like VB with it's solid interface.

I'd go for IPB over vB anytime. Just because something is popular, doesn't make it the best choice for you.

To you maybe (and me) but obviously not to everyone. Some forum software work better for others.
