MySQL limit

It seems strange to me that with 211 members and 50,000 posts, and after only being running for 8 months, we should be closing in on the upper limit. Is this 'normal', whatever normal is? And, more to the point, what the hell can we do about about it? Our hosting package, with 1&1 gives us two MySQL's - upgrading won't help, we can get more MySQL's but the same 100 meg upper limit. I'm clueless on MySQL, so its a bit of a worry

You have 2 options. 1. You can ask the host if it possible to pay more for a bigger database size. 2. You have to find a new host and go through the very painful process of moving.

I copied and pasted the error in a post at vb.com and they told me what it was. I went to my host and asked them to raise the limit, which they did. Now I'm getting ready to install the new eBux/eStore, and I bet they have to raise it again, lol

The problem is that we didn't realise at the time that this is an insufficient amount. Is it usual for there to be a MySQL upper limit, and what would be considered reasonable. I need some ammo for when I contact 1&1 to ask for a larger limit. Failing that, we'll have to move...arrgghhh.

Also contact there support ask for mysql to be upgraded. forums do tend to use a lot of mysql space but 100 mb can be used easily once theres hacks installed. So i would suggest getting them to upgrade or move on.
