Reviews on Free and Sponsored Sites.

I wanted to get some people ideas on how they feel about a client who may have a Free site or Sponsored site with you and wants to give a testimonial on our service, uptime, quality of support and anything else.

Do you feel that client like these should make reviews or not? I have felt at times that it is fine since they are talking about the actual service of your company and not the fact of your sposoring or they have a free site. There are many companied who offer free or sponsor and not provide good service. Do you think it is bad mojo for someone to review a company when they are in this situation?

Also, how do feel about posting testimonials for clients when they email them to you and say, " Add this for me, please. I am to busy to do it myself. "

To your first question, I think it is ok. Like you have said, testimonials are based on the service offered, and to me, whether it is a free or a paid service...a service is a service. And yes, even free services come with positive and negative experiences, so testimonials there are also very important.

As far as user-submitted testimonials, I am a bit confused there...you are referring to a testimonials page on your site I am assuming? If so, it appears to be completely webmaster-controlled, so what I don't see is how/where visitors would be able to tell whether the webmaster added it or a user submitted it. If you were posting these testimonials in a forum or something similar, I would be reluctant to post them as an admin/owner...would probably just not do it.

On our site, as of now. The webmaster is the only one to adds them once we receive one. We hope to fix this soon.

On the reviews for other places. I have had clients ask me to post them for them. Like send me an email and then I do it. I did think it was not a good idea, but felt since the client asked me to. I was happy to please then with there request.

Reason I have mentioned this is someone really didn't like it, because one of the review I posted on a review site was for a site we sponsor, which was an example of them saying submit this for me and one of the people who was over it went all crazy saying I owned it and I was spamming and scamming.

I would have aggreed with him, but the way he did it was way out of line. Like he just jumped on me and said i was scamming and spamming and deleted my account and banned me before looking into anything.

So I have been going over this stuff in my head for the last few days. I am glad I have got more of an idea of how some people view testimonials. The biggest problem for me was he never explain his self, he just jumped on me and starting bashing me and the company I sponsor.

I find out the owner doesn't look in to the connection details well enough. I only posted one review. I had other clients post some and he said they all came from same place. THis is impossible since the client aren't even in same state as me.

I just hate this happened. To certain extent I can understand why this started, but the owner not willing to reason or give a chance is unprofessinal. Thats just me though.

Yeah, I think he has a valid point, but he could have gone about it a different way...I mean really, how long does it take to submit a testimonial? 30 seconds? 60 seconds? How is somebody too busy to do that?

For that reason, I can understand why some people might think it's a lie.
