phpBB, it's the only one I can afford and install

I likephpBB because it's soooo easy to modify.

I disagree 110%

That is one of the biggest weaknesses of phpBB in my opinion...Installing a mod can oftentimes be an hour affair...and then upgrading your modded forums is a nightmare. vB, IPB, and SMF (I believe) have a modification/plugin/components system which is unparalleled.

I TOTALLY disagree with you here, it is very easy to modify, and if it's taking you hours it's because you aren't doing it right

I said *hour*, not hours...and the last time I installed a subforum for phpBB (3 years ago), I remember it taking me well over an hour...probably 50+ code changes. In fact, I remember that the vast majority of phpBB mods required at least one, and often many code changes.

Now I shudder at the thought of changing my code...I've probably installed a solid 20 mods here at AF and have 2, maybe 3 changes to the original code (php)

The phpBB modification system is outdated by years.

I don't have the money for vB so can't compare.

What i can say is that there is a program for phpBB called EasyMod, this installs these mods that may take you hours manually, in about 2 minutes.

From what I have been told, many mods are not compatible with EasyMod...and many of those which are, do not work correctly. Just what I've been told though, can't so so for myself.

phpbb mod installation (and much of everything else) is indeed outdated by years. And updating the version of the board with mods installed? A nightmare.
