VB is nice, but I usually work with SMF, I've torn the system apart and customized it soo many times for customers I just don't feel like learning anything new when it comes to my own projects.

I like it's user friendliness [from an end-user's point of view],
and high customisability. [from an admin's view]

I am using phpbb3 now for my site and the site i run for a friend uses mybb.

I was using wowbb but it is old software, they rarely upgraded it, it had very few features, small mod community and if you wanted mods you had to pay for them from a third party even though the mods they sell are standard on most other software. 100 bucks was a rip off. I feel so ripped off.

Going to phpbb3 was an upgrade. Plus I have XHTML Validation. I can do a heck of a lot more with it plus it has a excellent mod/theme/support community as does Mybb.

VB is good as I have two friends that left wowbb too and they went with VB. I seriously considered it but I heard phpbb3 was a huge improvement over phpbb2 so I decided to try it out.

I like IPB but VB for me is more pleasing on the eyes for paid software. But most open source forums like phpbb3, mybb, smf are pretty good and have all the features one really needs.

I just wonder if some people buy paid software just for 'bragging rights'? But I won't deny IPB and VB are top notch software either.
