IPB hands down everytime.... Easy to understand, easy to hack, regular updates and simple layout and code structure... Couple of things annoy me with it like the "poll" options for admins and editing... But other than that... I love my IPB!

I voted vB. I've tried all of them, and I find Invision to be the best by far.

Voted for IPB. Haven't had any experience with others, so can't really say which is best.

I like phpBB. I haven't tried vB and I wasn't all that impressed by the IPB I had. The IPB was probaly an older version but last time I checked you had to pay to use IPB and I don't have any money .

Yeah, you were probably using IPB 1.3 which is good, but not great...IPB 2 is pay software now, and there is a reason for that

Of those, PHPBB, its free, has some decent mods and great skins. However, I perfer to use SMF, its much easier to just edit the source code and play around.

the only reason i stopped using IPB was because of some of there ethics.

One example would be http://www.safer-networking.org/en/news/2005-09-12.html

I have voted phpBB, although I have 2 forums on IPB too. it's the free version installed by cPanel (1.2), good indeed.

Still I use PhpBB since I have became quite knowledgeable in modding the themes and the script. I have installed 20 or more mods in it and now I have a lot of features almost like in a paid forum script. Since I couldn't afford the paid options, I tried to make my free phpBB the best I could. with some time on your hand, you'd be amazed to see how it can turn out.

For those who have the money and are not willing to work for weeks on modding, then IPB or VB are the best route.
