I started out on YabbSE then later switched to vB (which I prefer) but I just setup my first SMF forum must to fool around with it at (WARNING ADULT CONTENT) XXX Bug.

I dunno, I've found that vB has probably the most free (and complex) mods and skins available. There's vBulletin.com, vBulletin.org, vBadvanced.com, vBulletin-style.com and more if you Google for what you are looking for.

i always use phpbb as i am used to it, but i am thinking about using vbulliten sometime, do you think it is worth it?

If you have the money, most definitely.

There is IPB and vB - each software is very similar...IPB tends to have a better admin interface (at this point) and vB has the better user interface (also at this point)

phpBB cannot compare to either of them as far as raw power and features

I use IPB at the moment. Not sure if I'm going to switch to vBulletin yet. Im still deciding. I have used ALL forums softwares but IPB and vBulletin are my favourites.
